미국의 리차드 터틀과
한국에서 태어나 미국 뉴욕으로 이주해
활동 해오고 있는 임충섭의 2인전

리차드 터틀 1960년대 중반부터 기존의 방법과 형식에서 벗어나 섬세하지만 거칠고 단순하며
시적인 표현의 작업을 보여주었다.
조각, 드로잉, 페인팅, 콜라주, 아상블라주, 설치 등을 넘나들며 틀에사 벗어나고자 했다.

임충섭 1960년대 중반에서 1970년대 초 한국현대미술의 단색화가 주류였던 흐름에서 벗어나
반추상 회화나 설치 실험등을 해오면서
1973년 미국 뉴욕으로 이주 했다. 드로잉, 오브제,
아상블라주, 키네틱 설치, 자유형 컨버스,
사진과 영상 등의 형식으로 실험해왔다.

80여 년 동안 각기 다른 역사를 살아온 두 작가는
동시대 미술계의 주요 흐름을 겪으며
독창적인 작업 세계를 만들어 왔다.
다양한 소재를 사용하여 만들어낸 작품들이
흥미로웠다.
